What is linen?
Linen is a textile made from the fibers of the flax plant with strong, absorbent, and dries faster than cotton. Because of these properties, linen is often used in the textile industry to make clothes for summer. It also has other distinctive characteristics, notably its tendency to wrinkle.

How to wash clothes made from linen
As a natural fiber, linen should not be laundered with harsh detergents or hot water, which can cause discoloration and fabric distortion. Besides, in the washing process, there are some other factors to keep in mind, such as:
Machine wash
When using the washing machine to clean linen clothes, you need to pay attention to these factors, such as:
- Sorting and separating linen garments enables the linen to be washed more effectively and protects it during the laundering process.
- According to manufacturers, the suitable water temperature is 30 degrees Celsius for linen.
- Selecting the suitable washing program and the water level does affect the fabric structure. If the washing machine does not have a linen program, you can choose a wool program to decrease the effect on the fabrics.
- The linen needs to dry in the sun after the washing process, do not leave it in the washing machine, and use a dryer to protect the fabric.

Hand wash
Using a washing machine is always the best method, but you should hand-wash linens with embroidery or lace attachments to ensure maximum fabric quality and efficiency.
- Soft washing and don’t wring, rub too hard because it will break the texture of natural fibers.
- Rinse the soap before sun-drying the fabric to prevent rotting.
How to maintain linen clothes
Ironing
- The linen clothes must be ironed when the humidity is approximately 10%. If the fabric is already dry, you should spritz some water on its surface before ironing.
- There is no need to iron both garment layers. Additionally, the left side of the embroidery should be ironed first, followed by the right side.
Storing
- Folding linens is not the proper method for storing them. You can instead hang them from hooks or curl them to prevent matte creases.
- Store it in a dry place. Avoid humid environments, as they will cause your clothes to become musty, moldy, and discolored.
